Before & After: His And Hers Home Office Design

The luxury of having an office at home – the only benefit one can think of is the coronavirus pandemic. It has now become a necessity to have a home office. A home office is a luxury quite equivalent to a walk-in closet or a bathtub. Even a small cubicle at home as an office seems more opulent than a table and chair.

So, if you have the liberty of having a home office, then it is about time to design it according to your own taste and preferences. You can make the space very expressive according to your desire. Keep in mind that the vibes of the home office should be motivational and challenging.

We thought of coming up with an idea of designing a home office that can serve as a work place for both him and her at the same time. this is a challenging task but why not~

So before further ado, let’s dig in to find out how we can design a home office that is mutually shared by him and her.

The Challenge:

The challenge on hands is huge! Designing a space that serves as a workplace jointly for both genders is a huge task, especially when you know that the taste and preferences of him and her would differ.

There were few unexpected challenges on the way. Let’s have a look:

  • Creating harmony between two different styles
  • A balance of style to serve as a long-term solution for both genders.
  • Amalgamating two different themes like boho and industrial into one.
  • Equipping the home office with all the necessary industrial technology
  • A relaxing and creative atmosphere
  • Keeping a common ground for both spaces
  • Usage of natural light

The Inspiration:

As decided, we opted for a bohemian theme for her and an industrial theme for him. A mix of both themes that will be practical and harmonious for both genders. It was absolutely important to have organic features in the design such as wood and wool that would match with the interior. The inspiration for such amalgamation was taken from the internet.

It was inspiring to come up with a solution of getting solid wooden working tops that will serve both the industrial and the bohemian theme. We also thought of coming up with similar styled open shelves that will serve the purpose of storage and will also curate the design perfectly.

The Concept:

It is very important that the room appears cohesive and organic. To achieve this, we decided to go with neutral or muted palette and natural elements such as wood and woolen textiles. The concept was that each side of the room will have its own distinctive character but overall will appear as a one unit.

The Mood Board:

When we talk about the industrial side of the room, it has to be equipped with modernity and masculinity. It is clear that we need to come up with a combination of metal and wood increasing our endless possibilities of home office décor.

We think the rolling ladders and fixtures that match the wooden floor tiles along with the accented table and desk would work wonders. A coffee nook or a soft couch will also be a perfect spot for small breaks.

On the other hand, the boho theme needs to be softer and creative. It has to be natural tones with flowy boho décor items complimented by grey tones. We believe that a soft decor with a meditation pillow, rattan pieces and a ripple-fold drapery will boost the look of the room while increasing the creativity of the room.

To top it off, a macramé wall hanging in a corner will be more than perfect and will accentuate the design of the room even more.

The Final Result:

We can provide the client the best of both worlds without a compromise. His office will be a striking marvel in industrial design showing off the strikingly beautiful wooden beams. Whereas the boho themed her design will be a quiet place oozing out luxury while celebrating organic materials.

The clean-cut result is everything. The end result needs to be productive and have a feel-good vibes about it. The best part about selecting the industrial home is that it actually works on the masculine lines of the gender and offers immense convenience. This actually improves the work efficiency.

Another thing which is very vital for a design to stand out is the lightning. This maximizes the natural resource as well as also allows the recessed loft lights to help in late night sittings.

The spacious floor plan also helps in easy access of different items and makes them within reach of the user.

The boho home office is a result of contemplative action. The desks will be matching on both ends that are made out of wood and metal. This will keep the structure subtle and flowy. Usage of stone-grey palette with textured drapes will also complement both masculine and feminine requirements.
