The Challenge Modern Mountain Home Interior:

Usually, the challenges we take are unique in their own kind, but this one was surely unique and one of a kind. When you think about the inhabitants of the house and how this idea of a modern place within mountains will work, the logistics, etc., it becomes quite challenging to actually complete this project.

challenges

We thought of decoding a custom-made design for a mountain house that will fit in all sizes that will serve all the inhabitants, the visitors, the occupants, and their needs. We derived certain criteria for ourselves before we started working on this project. Let’s have a look at some of the challenges which were to be overcome:

  • Working on every zone of the house i.e. dining area, living area, kitchen, and the room
  • Open-plan room design
  • A creative solution to fill up the wall space because of a high roofline
  • Usage of neutral color pallets so that the greenery outside can take the center position
  • Keeping the decoration and design minimalistic
  • Addition of warm browns and woody textures to make it appear more part of the scenery

Inspiration:

When we thought of taking inspiration from the internet, the sky was literally the limit. There was just so much on the internet, google, and Pinterest that it became overly difficult to decide what to choose and what to discard.

The colors, accents, furnishings, upholstery everything was stunning when you look at the wooden accents and the warm tones of mountain houses around the world.

We decided to get furniture that will enhance the ambiance of the mountain home. The lights are the game-changer here. The interior design of a modern mountain home has to be beautifully lit, with large windows so that the natural light can come in ample amounts and at night time the lightning inside can light up the house beautifully.

Mood board:

Half of the mood board was already done when we took inspiration from the internet. We decided to infuse rustic and contemporary design into the mountain home with a touch of industrial design to the furnishing and the accessories. The layout was decided to be kept as an open-plan room which seemed to be practical also. This was a perfect balance between the interior design and the color palette which was to be kept neutral along with playing around with the dark and light tones of greens

Modern Mountain Home Interior Design:

After the inspiration and mood board, it was time to dissect the house in different zones such as the kitchen, dining area, and the living area. The functionality of the home was decided to be kept cohesive as the long roofline would enable us to keep the zones as one unit.

It was decided to keep a vast difference between the outdoors and the indoors. The sophistication needed to be at par so that once a person comes inside the home, he can actually feel the warmth that is a must when you are visiting mountains and the ambiance should be cozy and comfortable.

Open-plan Living Room:

As decided, we incorporated rustic ideas into the living room keeping it a combined room to serve multi-purposes. The gray accented wall with an ashen-up exterior along with the wood-like texture made the room appear to be spacious and bright. This was a perfect contrast against the concrete floor of the house and the off-white walls of the rest of the house.

Open-plan living room

The rustic décor brought out the character of the room and the depth was incredible. Addition of a glass door complemented and added raw and organic structure to the mountain home, making it perfect for the thin line between exterior and interior to disappear.

The fireplace is a must! There is no way that a mountain home is complete without a fireplace. After the installation of the fireplace, we added a rug and scattered floor cushions to make it more cozy and warm.

Natural light was in abundance and the industrial furniture in metallic texture brought out the relaxing yet the perfect ambiance of the room.

Dining Area:

This area was decided to be an amalgamation of abstract monochromatic walls with the help of art pieces to differentiate between the living and the dining area. This was the best focal point as it drew attention towards the wall which was illuminated with the help of small lights.

Kitchen Area:

Modern kitchen with a perfect symphony of light – a perfect start with the breakfast of your choice! Natural lights are beaming into the kitchen, thanks to the long life-size windows along with the center pendants and lamps that brought more layers of light into the kitchen.

The workstation was well lit as well. To have a modern kitchen, it was decided that an island kitchen would be a perfect feature to enhance the modernity of a mountain home.

Conclusion on Mountain Home Interior:

A modern mountain home that is sophisticated yet aesthetically pleasing, is not difficult to achieve. All you need to do is complete homework about what you want and how you want. Trust us, nothing is more beautiful than enjoying a hot cup of coffee with a book of your choice in a mountain home surrounded by lush green trees and the falling noise of rainfall!
